CSS and IE: Opacity

Image / element transparency is controlled by CSS property opacity. eg,

.some-object {
    opacity: 0.8;
}

However, IE (surprised?!) V8 and prior does not understand this property.

Fortunately there is a fix:

.some-object {
    opacity: 0.8;
    filter: alpha(opacity=80); // <--
}

It’s said IE9 can handle opacity property. However i don’t have access to IE9 to test this. Let me know in comment if IE9 also decide to behave differently than standard browsers.
